If there was a hitch, it was that the winners could not step up for their awards as they themselves were getting ready for a performance. Shah Rukh Khan missed his big speech when he was announced Entertainer of the Year in a viewers’ poll, and Abishek Bachchan had to run out from backstage to receive his award for Best Supporting Actor.

And for the first time, the Zee Cine Awards introduced the Zenith Award, which was given out to the movie with the most number of awards that night. It went to two less glamorous but more significant films released last year – Rang De Basanti and Lage Raho Munnabhai.
