International Indian Film Awards 2009
Ashutosh Gowariker’s epic movie ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ swept most of the top awards at the International Indian Film Awards (IIFA).
The film won best picture award, while Ashutosh Gowarikar won the award for best director and Hrithik Roshan for best actor for Jodhaa Akbar.
Other awards for the night includes Priyanka Chopra winning the best actress for her role in ‘Fashion’.
Priyanka co-star Kangana Ranawat won the award for her performance as supporting female actor.
The male supporting role goes to Arjun Rampal for his ‘Rock On’ role.
IIFA presented the lifetime achievement award to Rajesh Khanna who received a deserved standing ovation.
Akshaye Khanna won for best performance in a negative role, while Abhishek Bachchan won the award for best performance in a comic role in ‘Dostana’.
Best story award goes to ‘A Wednesday’, a film by Neeraj Pandey.
In its tenth year, the award was held at the Venetian® Macao-Resort-Hotel and to commemorate the event, a special male star of the decade award went to Shah Rukh Khan, while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan won in the female award version.
‘Lagaan’ won the movie of the decade, AR Rahman awarded music of the decade and Rakesh Roshan winning director of the decade.
