With the recent Batman movie release, the media, critics to movie-goers had nothing but only rave reviews and even talks of a posthumous Oscar nomination for the Joker role played by the deceased Australian actor Heath Ledger, who we all know accidentally overdose on his prescription drugs earlier January this year.
I think the list of great actor and actress who life was cut short and never saw light of their last movie production is beginning to tally up.
This is the list replicated via filmoviezone.com
Heath Ledger 1979-2008
Last movie production was “Batman Dark Knight”
Filmed late 2007, released Jul 2008
It is said Heath Ledger untimely death didn’t go down well with co-star Christian Bale, who had formed close bond with the Aussie actor during the Batman production. The recent ‘cracks’, outburst and the alleged assault on his mother and sister by Bale was stemmed from this

River Phoenix 1970-1993
Last movie production was “Silent Tongue”
Filmed 1992, released 1994. The film’s release was delayed due to his death
His career was cut short, when he died of an overdose of heroin and cocaine (also known as a speedball) on Halloween morning 1993 at age 23. He was the older brother of actor Joaquin Phoenix

Marilyn Monroe 1926-1962
Last movie production was “Something’s Got To Give”
Filmed 1962, still unfinished. Film cancelled resulting in the footage being shelved in the studio’s vaults
Alleged overdose of barbiturates but classified as a “probable suicide” and murder conspiracy even

Phil Hartman 1948-1998

He was shot to death by his wife Brynn Hartman while asleep in his Encino, California home

Bruce Lee 1940-1973
Last movie production was “Enter the Dragon & Game of Death”
Death came a month before “Enter the Dragon” release in July 1973 and “Game of Death” was finished in 1978 with lookalike stand-in actor
Lee collapsed in Golden Harvest studios while doing dubbing work for Enter the Dragon. Suffering from full-body seizures and cerebral edema, he was immediately rushed to Hong Kong Baptist Hospital where doctors were able to reduce the swelling through the administration of Mannitol and revive him. These same symptoms that occurred in his first collapse were later repeated on the day of his death

Brandon Lee 1965-1993
Last movie production was “The Crow”
To complete the film, stunt double Chad Stahelski, who was a friend of Lee’s, was used as a stand-in
Brandon died at the age of 28 on the set of “The Crow” with eight days left before shooting of the film was to be completed. While filming one scene, where he gets shot repetitively, the cap of a blank (which shoots harmlessly) accidentally got lodged in his spine after penetrating his abdomen
